Tottenham is on the verge of securing a loan deal for RB Leipzig forward Timo Werner until the conclusion of the season, as reported by Sky Germany
In the latest transfer developments, Tottenham Hotspur is reportedly in advanced talks with RB Leipzig to secure the loan signing of German striker Timo Werner. Manager Ange Postecoglou is eager to strengthen the squad early in January, with a particular focus on bolstering the central defense, where Genoa’s Radu Dragusin remains a top priority.
However, Postecoglou is not only looking to fortify the defensive line but is also open to enhancing the attacking options, especially with the impending absence of Son Heung-min due to the Asian Cup and Alejo Véliz dealing with a knee injury. Recognizing the need for a dynamic forward who aligns with his tactical plans, Postecoglou has identified Timo Werner as a potential solution. The 27-year-old German striker, known for his pace and intensity, could provide a valuable addition to Spurs’ front three.
Werner, a former Chelsea player, has been a subject of transfer speculation, with Manchester United also reportedly interested in acquiring his services. In the current Bundesliga season, Werner has scored two goals in eight appearances for RB Leipzig. Having returned to the Bundesliga in 2022 after a two-year stint in the Premier League with Chelsea, he is under contract with Leipzig until the summer of 2026.
Werner’s initial move to Chelsea in the summer of 2020 for £47.5 million did not yield the desired results, scoring only 10 goals in 56 Premier League games. Now, Tottenham sees an opportunity to tap into his potential and add a dynamic dimension to their attacking force. Meanwhile, on the departure front, Eric Dier is rumored to be on the verge of a dream move to Bayern Munich, with personal terms reportedly agreed upon for a January transfer.
