The Met Office has issued a yellow rain warning covering a 15-hour period from midday to 3 am tomorrow, with the south of England expected to experience the heaviest downpours, reaching up to 50mm of rainfall across the country. In the aftermath of the storm, 271 flood warnings and 293 flood alerts remain active.

Met Office Chief Meteorologist Matthew Lehnert highlighted the uncertainty regarding the track of the heaviest rain, with the potential for 20 to 30 mm of rain falling within a 6 to 9 hour period in some areas and localized amounts of 40-50 mm. Given the already saturated ground, the impacts are likely to be more significant. Additionally, a stalled weather front is anticipated to continue bringing rain and showers across the northeast. Meteorologists warned of a “small chance” of communities becoming cut off by flooded roads, particularly as many are still recovering from yesterday’s burst banks.

Key Points:

Nottingham has experienced extensive road closures due to heavy flooding, as listed by the police. Roads submerged under water include A6097 Gunthorpe Bridge, Main St in Zouch, Churchgate in Colston Basset, and various others.

A small village in Worcestershire faced heavy flooding after Storm Henk, resulting in complete isolation by floodwaters and the evacuation of schoolchildren. Despite the challenging conditions, the Rose and Crown Pub remains open, emphasizing the importance of supporting their business and staff amidst the fifth flood in three years.
