Tottenham Fans Unhappy with ITV’s Arsenal-Heavy Coverage as Laura Woods Smirks During FA Cup Game

Laura Woods, an Arsenal supporter, raised eyebrows during ITV’s coverage of Tottenham’s FA Cup match against Burnley, leaving some fans disgruntled

Accusations have surfaced against Laura Woods, an Arsenal fan and ITV presenter, for allegedly stifling laughter while discussing Tottenham during their FA Cup clash against Burnley. The Friday night broadcast featured a predominantly Arsenal-related lineup, with Ian Wright and Karen Carney, former Arsenal players, in the studio as pundits, and Lee Dixon providing co-commentary.

Despite Wright and Dixon having brief stints at Burnley, their strong connections with Arsenal led to discontent among Spurs supporters. The choice of presenters drew criticism on social media platforms, with fans expressing their displeasure at what they perceived as a lack of neutrality from ITV. One Twitter user wrote, “Literally put ITV on and Laura Woods is on there trying her hardest not to laugh when asking Ian Wright about Spurs. Why do they do this knowing full well she f***ing hates Spurs?” Another tweet stated, “@itvfootball you did very well keeping the pundits neutral. What with Ian Wright and Laura Woods… truly incredible how stupid you lot are,” while another fan added, “4 Arsenal related pundits for a Tottenham game. ITV are taking the p***.”

After the broadcast, Woods faced a barrage of angry comments on social media. Responding to one user who questioned ITV’s choice of all-Arsenal presenters, she replied, “No idea, ask them?” Mirror Football has reached out to ITV Sport for comment but has not received a response. A Spurs fan humorously imagined the behind-the-scenes conversation at ITV, writing, “‘Spurs vs Burnley in the FA Cup, who shall we get in the studio for balance?’ ‘Shall we go for Arsenal fan Laura Woods, ex-Arsenal Karen Carney, and ex-Arsenal Ian Wright?’ ‘Yep, sounds good.'” Woods, seemingly unfazed by the criticism, responded to the viral post with a laughing emoji, noting, “Don’t forget ex-Arsenal Lee Dixon in commentary.” Known for her experience in presenting on both TV and radio, Woods has a history of banter with Tottenham fans, having trolled them after their 6-1 defeat to Newcastle last season and engaging in playful banter with Spurs midfielder James Maddison during the summer.
