One X account, GoodLionTV, propagated the notion of “10ft Aliens/Creatures (caught on camera?)” inside and outside a Miami Mall. The account, adorned with a blue verification checkmark, has amassed over 3.5 million views for its sensational claims. It’s crucial to note that a verification checkmark does not guarantee the reliability of the information provided.
Miami police, responding to the conspiracy theory, debunked the notion of extraterrestrial involvement. An unnamed spokesperson for the Miami PD clarified to TMZ that what appeared as “aliens” in the footage were, in fact, just shadows of individuals walking. The spokesperson emphasized that careful examination would reveal the silhouette of a person at the bottom of the shadow.
Despite this clarification, several verified accounts on X continued to entertain the idea of an otherworldly explanation for the police response. It’s noteworthy that X no longer verifies the identity of users who pay for a checkmark, yet some users still attribute credibility to accounts with this verification symbol.
Reports from local TV station WPLG-TV shed light on the origin of the brawl at Bayside Marketplace in Miami. The altercation began when teenagers ignited fireworks in the mall, causing widespread panic. Up to 50 young people were reportedly involved in the disturbance, prompting a significant police presence. Four juveniles were arrested in connection with the incident.
